Should I replace a pink cartridge like for like? It is supplied from a 24kw combi but our water pressure is quite low and variable. Would a grey one be a better choice.?
The pink Aqualisa 022802 cartridge is designed for combi boiler / multipoint high pressure (HP) systems.
The grey Aqualisa 022801 cartridge is for gravity-fed, pumped, or balanced-pressure systems (i.e. where hot and cold come in at similar or equal pressures) — sometimes also called low pressure (LP) systems.
The manufacturer’s guidance is that you pick the cartridge that matches your water system type. Using the wrong type can lead to problems like poor temperature control, inability to go fully cold, or issues with shower activation (especially in combi boiler systems).
I needed to replace my original cartridge due to upgrading to a combi boiler. It has made all the difference and I now have proper temperature adjustment as expected.
I wish a tool could be included to remove the pesky old washer deep inside the unit. It took me many hours of spitting and cursing to get the old one out but all is good in the end.
